I grew up collecting insects, snakes, lizards, and frogs in Colorado and Texas, but have always had a special appreciation for the insects. I studied biology at Oregon State University where I received my first official entomological employment at the Oregon State Arthropod Collection as an NSF sponsored REU. Afterwards, I headed to Georgia to study aphid-symbiont-parasitoid interactions in the Entomology Department at the University of Georgia. I've been living in Mainz, Germany since 2015 where I currently study how microbial symbionts influence the ecology of pyrrhocorid bugs.
